Lighting the Fire is a continuing professional development programme for
- Theatre and dance practitioners who wish to create work for pre-school children
- Pre-school educators who are interested in developing techniques of theatre or creative movement as part of the creative curriculum within their settings
This brand new course brings together arts practitioners and educators working in nursery/playgroup settings to explore together the rich world of performances for the Early Years.
The programme will take place over 8 days between 2nd June and 8th July 2010.
During the course you will:-
- Attend 4 performances in the festival by national and international companies and 1 ‘work in progress’
- Meet performers and directors and have the opportunity to discuss performances with them
- Work together practically to experiment with some of the ideas and techniques you have seen, in a safe and supportive environment.
- Be able to try your ideas out on a group of children and parents
Led by Adel Al-Salloum, Associate Director at Curve, and David Cross, Curriculum Advisor for Drama at Leicester and Leicestershire Arts in Education, the course is FREE and is open to
- Pre-school educators working in Leicester City Council settings
- Practitioners living in the East Midlands
