A gripping and uplifting story

Little Leap Forward tells the true story of Guo Yue and his childhood in China during Chairman Mao’s Cultural Revolution.

Books art and music are suppressed and Guo’s father, a musician, disappears. In the midst of trouble, Guo learns to play the flute and discovers in music a precious liberation.

Performed with Horse + Bamboo's signature strong visual style with full helmet masks, stunning puppetry and music from traditional Chinese instruments, Little Leap Forward is a gripping and uplifting story of family, friendships, creative expression and above all the need for freedom.
