Aylestone Meadows playspace
"Play Path" designed by Walter Jack
The Play Space is launched
We are delighted to announce that the Play Space on Aylestone Meadows was officially opened on Friday 9th July and was named "Play Path".
We were delighted to have Mantle Arts on hand to organise our opening event which involved story telling, music and games. Thanks to them, the artists and to all those who came along to support the event.
The MC: Phil Coggins of Babbling Vagabonds Theatre Company
The Band: Govannen
The puppeteer: Beka Haigh from Frolicked.
A big thank you to Brian Stafford and Adrian Lane at Leicester City Council who were responsible for the development of the project and who cut the ribbon with assistance from their young helper! The Spark would also like to thank Jasia McArdle, the Project Manager, for all her hard work.
Spark Festival Events
We were delighted to host 4 days of events during the festival this year, incluing Playtime Picnics - run by our wonderful Play Rangers, and "Fruity Fun" - a family craft event run by The City Gallery. The highlight was a visit by the Queen of the Fairies, and thanks to all of you who came along with gifts and mesages for the Queen.
More pictures of the events and the site can be found at our Flickr group Play Path Aylestone Meadows.
…but it’s not finished yet!
The path, seats, swings and boulders are now in place and already in use by children and adults alike. Work will be continuing on the planting throughout the summer and into the autumn. Please come and visit the site and tell us what you think and share your photos with us vis Flickr.
