Welcome to The Spark! |
|
| |
The 6th Spark Festival took place in May and June 2008. Over the 15 days of the festival we presented a huge range of events - plays and puppetry on big and small stages all over the city and county, music in city parks, storytelling trails, and visual arts exhibitions and workshops.
This year's festival was rich in stories from near and far worlds- Arabian Nights, Aesop's Fables, Grimm and Hans Anderson as well as modern day tales, like the hilarious "Shopping for Shoes" and magical "The Snail and the Whale". We were most exicited to present the water-theatre productiona of Sinbad at Cossington Street Sports Centre complete with pirates, sea monsters and hairy dwarves!
"The Spark is great. Lots to do and join in with at great prices and at fab locations. See you next year. "
"Keep going with the Spark – it gets better each year!"
"Keep up the good work – The Spark festival is fantastic!"
The Spark is a space for children - and families and teachers - to have new experiences of the arts, to experiment, to be inspired and have fun together. We hope you will enjoy exploring the website to find out more about the kind of productions and events that were part of last year's festival.
Next year's festival will be 25th May to 7th June 2009 and the programme will be launched in April. In the meantime, last year's brochure can be downloaded following the link on this page.
To be sent a copy of the brochure, please send us your contact details using the contact page. To be notified of Spark events via email, please use the "Join the Mailing List" link on this page.
We look forward to meeting you at the festival!
